Pam said my punishment is that I have to remove the "no buy in August" button from my sidebar. Fair enough - it's gone!
Also gone already are one or two of the Mistletoe Manor fabrics at Z &S, including the green stripe I ordered for my appliqué background. A friend of mine placed an order after I did, and she couldn't get as much as she wanted of that one because they were sold out. That was fast - I know the fabric hasn't been on their site more than a day or two. Obviously I'm not the only one who fell in love with it.
I don't feel guilty at all. It's a long time since I've been this excited about a fabric purchase. I couldn't go to sleep last night just thinking about the quilt, and now I'm awake and up over an hour before my alarm is due to go off. I think this quilt was meant to be for me.
I know for sure now that I'll need to be VERY good when I head to the Seattle quilt show on Saturday. Supposedly that was a "free buying day" because it is something special that comes along only once every two years. But I've had my fall off the wagon - I plan to stay firmly seated on that wagon for the rest of the month.

Sounds like you made the right decision for you if you've got no buyer's remorse and spent the night dreaming of the quilt :-) Congrats....
Patti! Have you ordered it yet? It'll be fun for us to see a photo of the fabric stack when it arrives.
Oh dont feel any guilt to be sure. Our keyword is QUILT NOT GUILT lol ;) I cant wait to see the progress yay you have me excited FOR You :) xoxo melzie
you should enjoy this feeling-but I noticed you changed your mind and will not do such a fast pattern after all!!!
which is perfectly fine-again, good for you to treat yourself to such an eagerly awaited gift.
No worries. I think the challenge was meant to help control buying without an actual purpose. You have shown great restraint waiting for just the exact fabric to come on to the scene. I'll think of you doing the happy dance when that package arrives.
Happy dance. Especially at those prices it wouldn't have stayed around too long!! When ladies buy, we BUY!!
Have fun at the show - if you have time, you should try to go to the gallery near the train station, Greg Kucera - to see the Gees Bend quilts too! I am glad to hear you bought the fabrics - they are really lovely and will bring you much joy as you work with them. At least it wasn't an impulse buy~you really thought this one out.
I agree with Melzie - Quilt not guilt. Enjoy your fabric purchase AND enjoy the quilt show.
Good for you...knew you'd make the right decision for you. Have fun at the quilt show. Will look forward to hearing about it.
You know I used to accidentally type "guilt" instead of "quilt"--think that was a Freudian slip???
No seriously, you have no need to feel guilty at all. Anything that can make you this excited about quilting can in no way be a bad thing! Show us as the quilt progresses what you are doing with those lovely fabrics.
You can impose the self discipline rule this weekend at the quilt show---
Enjoy your fabrics :-) You can do No Buy of fabrics for the rest of the month if you like. I am looking forward to see your project - and your fabrics.
Think of how you would have felt to have waited until September and then not be able to get your dream fabric? Plus, you already have a plan for it and not just to line your shelves. I think you made a good choice!
I think you should go easy on yourself at the quilt show. There will be 50 vendors there to tempt us!
at least your fall off the wagon was cushioned by some lovelty fabric ;-)
Good thing you bought it so quickly.
I am going down to the quilt show on Friday. I love the APNQ show in Seattle and I am GOING to shop!! I love the merchants mall there. And the quilts on display are all so wonderful. Have fun when you go.
P.S. Hopefully I get over this sidebar obsession soon!!
Congrats on finding your fabric! That is always the problem when you set a goal like that--the perfect fabric shows up! Well, how could you pass up the price? Now I am jealous you are going to the APNQ show. When we lived in Seattle the movers were coming on the day of that show and I went to the show! The movers were still there when I returned, but that show is not to be missed! You really should enter it, your work is fabulous!
Hope you still got some good fabrics from that line though. Enjoy them! I've not been good at all lately, so I"m not one to talk!
Good for you on purchasing some fabric you really wanted. I have been looking at the Mistletoe Manor range and so far i have resisted buying any. Only problem is tommorrow two ladies from the craft group i attend are coming over so i can show them how to purchase some Christmas fabric online as they haven't done this before. Hopefully is will be strong enough not to purchase anything:-)
Can't wait to see the stunning quilt you will turn this fabric into!!!
You didn't buy "fabric" your purchased a quilt. I think there is a difference. I'm looking at the fabric and wondering which one's you ordered.
I think that if you can get through the show without buying anything, you should be able to restore the August button to your blog. Consider the Moda fabric your one quilt show purchase. How does that sound?
It all sounds good Patti, I know you can do it. You've waited far too long for just the right fabrics to pass them up. Hugs, Finn
