Online fabric stores

This is going to be a short post - I'm determined to sew today. For those of you who've made a vow to not buy fabric in 2007 you'd better stop reading now.

I want to mention a few of my favorite online shops. I order online a lot because the quilt shops that carry the kind of fabric I really like are a significant drive away and I can get there only a few times a year.

My most favorite shop of all is Z&S Fabrics. It is run by a mother and daughter team - Carol and Meghan - and their service is phenomenal! Their prices are also some of the best you'll find anywhere for first quality fabric. Z&S stands for Zooks and Sauders, two well known Amish quilt shops in Pennsylvania. Take a look if you aren't familiar with them - you'll be glad you did. Meghan has also started a blog - Meghan's Material World - in which she talks about their experiences running the online store, and her own quilting too. I'm hoping to bring more readers to her blog my mentioning it here.

Two other shops that I like a lot are the Fat Quarter Shop and Homestead Hearth. The first is a great source for fat quarter packs, charm packs, and the new Moda Jelly Rolls. The second has the best kits I know of - they are overly generous with their pieces of fabric and everything labeled perfectly as to what it's for. Both offer outstanding service 99% of the time.

If you are in the mood to shop - or have some Christmas money burning a hole in your pocket - I encourage you to take a look.

Now I'm going to sew!

I have already ordered from the Fat Thanks for this Patti, I have bought fabric from the Fat Quarter Shop but I will check out the others now as well. I buy virtually all my yardage online from the States, mainly from Thousands of Bolts (my favourite online store). I have to say that the level of customer service I've received from US online stores is terrific (not to mention the prices, which are so much cheaper than here in the UK). I'll check out Meghan's blog too.

I have been to Zooks in Intercourse P.A. the web store is an off shoot of this store and another. I live in N.J. and this area is great for LQS quailty fabric shopping. I still have fabric in my stash from the last time I was there. LOL. Guess that is why I am on No Buy but I can still buy the legal B's.

Patti~ Thanks for visiting my blog! I was lucky to find Fat Quarter Shop online to fill in some packs my LQS had run out of. I rarely say I want THAT quilt in THOSE fabrics, but I did..and I have them...and NOW I'm on No-buy. WHEW just in time!

I order regularly from The Fat Quarter Shop and Homestead Hearth - I've only peeked into Z&S Fabrics and avoided temptation. Will visit again soon. And, I'll pop into Meghan's Material World, too.

BTW, I read the first two books in the Shenandoah Valley series but have not purchased the third one - waiting for paperback. LOL Great books!

Patti,
Thanks for the link to Meghan's blog. I'll have to add her to my bloglines which, by the way, have 65 folks on it. I thought I was on overload but you've made me feel good-176!!!!!!!!!!
You must be one fast reader! LOL

I love Fat Quarter Shop, Kimberly is always helpful when I've had questions. My favorite on-line shop is Fabric Depot - 30% off every on-line order and at least once a month they have a great sale on something.

Wait, you're only a few miles away from their store in Portland. Have you ever been there? I went there when we were on vacation in 2005. Loved it!

All my favorites online too with one addition...Cottage quilts. They don't have the great prices, like Z&S, but they do have sales often! I learned about Z&S from you and I love the fact that they get the whole groups of fabrics in and offer them in FQ bundles and 1/2yd bundles! Homestead Hearth got quite a bit of business from us for my Christmas presents! I got the new Beacon Hill FQ bundle and it's fabulous!

Thanks for sharing- I'd never been to Z&S before and they look GREAT! FYI, wish upon a quilt in NC has super fast shipping and crazy prices, too.

Happy New Year Patti. I've heard of these shops from the fabshophop, and I think I was on their mailing list for a while. There is a LQS within walking distance from my house, so I try to give them my business so they will stay.

I started to visit and bookmark those shops but I'm determined to limit my buying again this year. I slacked up some last year and bought more fat quarters but realized I have bundles that are 3+ years old that I haven't used yet so I'm staying away.

I too like Z&S. I found them thru a link someone (maybe you?) posted on their blog a few months ago. That's where I bought my luscious Chocolat fabrics for $2/yd cheaper than I found them anywhere else! And anther I LOVE is Thousands of Bolts. Especially for good quality backings. Although I've also bought a lot from them when I find holes in my stash I want to fill. Like when I bought a bunch of different purples a few months sgo. And I notice my pinks are really low so I think that will be the focus of my next midnight shopping spree.
