I did finish another 8" block for the mid-century album quilt last night - another "cutwork" block. I love how this one turned out - it makes me think of snowflakes. Speaking of snowflakes, we are actually getting snow today - though nothing is sticking. So pretty to see it fall - and so rare for around here. I also finished the reverse applique on the bowl for the 16" fruit block - I think it's going to be a beauty.
The countdown to retirement is continuing - I'm down to 18 more working days! It seems so very strange!
That's it for now - have to get back to work!

He looks like such a happy boy! You can tell he's been very well cared for, again congrats to you kids!
What do you mark your applique with normally? I see the yellow pencil in the dark parts, but is the other pigma pen? I normally use white pencil but it can be tough sometimes. Just wondered.
your kids...should have been.
Hi there, Congratulations on the little grandbaby and I hope the shower goes well. We are in BC just across the border and it has been snowing on and off here all day. Wanted to say Hi this is my first visit to your site.
I have been a little behind on blog-commenting due to Thanksgiving, etc. but just wanted to send my heartfelt congratulations on your family's wonderful gift of Joseph. What an absolute cutie-pie!!! And, wow, so happy for you on the early retirement. You are gonna LOVE being retired!!! BTW, I am hoping to get the quilts for my sons back from the longarmer any day now to bind in time for Christmas--one of which contains so much of your generous gift of aqua-ish fabrics!!! Can't wait to see it all quilted. She's (LAer) had it for several months and I am getting antsy.
18 days yippee!!!!
I am just so happy for you!
I Love these blocks and your fabric choices are beautiful :)
as well as your applique stitching.

Joseph is a cutie! Only 18 days, that's going to fly by fast!
Only 18 more days - are you ready? Need I ask? LOL You've been planning this since, since.. forever!
Thanks for the perfect pie crust recipe. I'll give it a try.
Joseph looks like a happy baby. Won't be long now :)
Joseph is adorable, actually he's a handsome young man. You must be getting excited with only 18 days left to work. How cool to be so close to retirement.
I just love that cutwork snowflake. Your little cutie is absolutely precious, a heart-melting grin for sure! Happy countdown...
Can't wait to hear about the baby shower! Hope all went well and they got everything they needed.

I remember reading about you're looking forward to retirement when it was something like 18 months away. Time has flown! And you want to learn to knit socks?! I just learned. Here's a *great* photo illustarted tutorial:

Save the link! :D
He is just gorgeous Patti! Drop me a line, I think a smile like that deserves a little book about Australian animals that I have here...he may as well be fully worldwise!
Hope the shower went well,...and only 18 days to go! Tracey
What a beautiful baby! I love your blocks. Gorgeous!
What a smile! He'll certainly charm the ducks off the pond, as we say around here. The fabric for your cutwork 'snowflake' is so lovely. It really enhances the pattern.
