Goal reached

I'm very happy to report that I've reached my goal. I can call a halt - at least for now - to my Crumb Chaos obsession. All of the partially finished blocks are finished. Looking like a giant stack of wild, colorful square pancakes - 338 completed 6 1/2" blocks. The drawers of oddball size strips - 1 1/4" and 1 3/4" wide - are significantly reduced. I've been able to combine the two into one drawer that is definitely less full than each were when I started. My tub of crumbs looks like it's reduced to half of what it was. That's still a LOT of crumbs but that's OK. I'm going to let the rest slumber peacefully in the drawer for the time being. I'm ready to move on to something different. (I'll share that with you tomorrow.)
I don't know yet what I'll do with these blocks. I'm seriously thinking of making us a new quilt for our queen size bed, as the two we currently use are starting to show wear. I don't want to put a special quilt on the bed as long as the dog thinks the bed is his. These would make a great warm quilt for the coming winter that I can let the dog sleep on without worry. There should still be enough left for a Hotel Hope quilt. If not, there are certainly enough more crumbs and strips to make as many more blocks as needed.

ok, I am going to have make some of these mile a minute blocks, of course I will have to cut up fabric to have scraps and bits of fabrics to make these or..... hmmmm maybe you need to fill a box of those scraps and send them to me...I think you should turn these blocks into a quilt for your bed and your dogs resting place :)

That is astonishing!!! What an achievement. You should send this whole project into a quilting magazine! Again, you are an inspiration!

It is hard to believe that after making all those blocks that there could be anything left in your scrab bin!

Incredible, look at how much you have accomplished! And they look GOOD. I always picture crumb and MAM as just odd bits thrown together, yours looked designed! Kisses for Sophie and prayers for Diogenes adoption.

Doesn't it feel good to use up some of the stash that has been taking up space? Now the space that it will take up, will be a comfy warm quilt for your bed and your dog, also for some lucky person out there. Way to go!!!!

Colorful pancakes! They look wonderful, Patti.

Love the picture of Sophie and her daddy - she's reading right along with him. :-)

I understand your blogging and sewing challenge. I've found that I'm too addicted to reading blogs that I'm not sewing much. Need to add some discipline to my daily schedule. I'll be here reading as long as you're around! No problem!

Love the block stack - I bet that did clean out some crumbs and odd sized strips. I'll be watching to see what you eventually decide to do with them.

Wow. THat is an awesome stack.

I started sewing together some 2 inch squares and even though I felt like I sewed forever, I barely made a dent in my shoebox....

I'll keep going, though!
