Done is a good thing!

I still found excuses to delay starting the customer quilt until this afternoon. I discovered that once again Bloglines wasn't informing me of updates, so I made my way around the three rings - Scrap Quilts, Quilt Mavericks, and Quilting 4 Pleasure. Found lots of new posts. I guess I'm going to have to resubscribe to all the blogs that aren't updating. Maybe tomorrow. It was nice to catch up with everyone.

I went upstairs and loaded the quilt about 1:00 or so. I'm happy to report that it is done and looks good. Had a couple minor setbacks in the process - after two years I still have much to learn - but nothing I wasn't able to remedy. I finished about 6:30 so we had a bit of a late dinner but that's OK - Fred wasn't hungry anyway. The sweetie is now finishing cleaning the kitchen, and I'm heading upstairs to clean up the longarm room. I might as well load the next customer quilt while I'm up there - should help me procrastinate less with that one.

Back to work tomorrow - what a wonderful vacation! Eye candy today is a quilt called "Fireworks" from an old Quiltmaker Magazine. I made it for a class sample at Daisy Kingdom in 1992. I've been handquilting it for years. Not that much left - one or two blocks and the sashing and borders - but since I quilt every quilt to death it's taking a long time. I've not touched it for at least 2-3 years - not since the arthritis in my hands made it painful to quilt for more than a couple hours at a stretch. I really need to get back with it and get it finished. You may wonder why I'm quilting the sashing the way I am - well, the rope wasn't wide enough and I hate to quilt in the ditch, so this is what I started to do. It looks a bit silly to me now, but it is what it is and that's OK.

Patti, I don't know what browser you are using but IE 7 now has the capability to subscribe to the blog feeds (with a few exceptions) I plugged all mine in Friday or Saturday and have found that it updates more promptly at the interval I chose and without all the repetition of the same posts. AND best of all, I can see the pictures in the post---bloglines I could not. Still have to click to go the blog and comment just like bloglines but so far it seems much more reliable. I'm going to monitor it for another week and will probably ditch bloglines and use what is installed on the computer. Just something to consider. Pam and Cher both are using Sage (Mozilla)

Love the quilting on your customers top--very nice!!

The quilting (& quilt) is beautiful! Did you custom quilt the whole top?
What longarm machine do you have? I'm "thinking" about investing in one...just don't know where to start.

I'll try to answer your Fluff question. Fluff is and isn't the same as marshmallow cream. Maybe it is just preference, but I think Fluff is lighter, more fluffy. lol Fluff is made in Lynn, Mass. In all these years I NEVER thought of using Fluff when making rice krispies. It sure would be easier, and I'll have to try it next time.

Bloglines has been a bit obstinate of late -- it won't make any gratitudes lists if it continues this way *s*

I sure can see how easy it is to procrastinate -- I often find myself dilly-dallying over something in order to put off doing what I know I should. Eventually I snap out of it and get everything done. I think sometimes we just need to do that -- a little bit of rebellion goes a long way.

Ditto on the Bloglines thing! Not working well at times!

Maybe it's just me, but I like the sashing detail, it shows up really well in the light blue areas. The quilt is a really neat pattern...exactly the same one I used for the stars quilt but the colors are laid out differently and it changes the block completely!! I may have to save a snap of the block this way!

I love the fireworks quilt - I printed out a copy for my idea book. Your posts are really making me want to get a hand quilting project going.I hardly ever hand quilt because I like to get things finished but I do have some blocks I'm going to assemble and do some big stitch quilting on.
