Progress on Heirloom Stitches

All the pieced blocks for Heirloom Stitches are done, and I've sewed together everything I can. I love this quilt so much! Now I'm going to prep the appliqué block so I can stitch on it during the baseball game tonight. It looks like the blocks coming later this month are also pieced blocks, so I hope to be totally caught up by the end of June. The first picture is the basket block, and the second shows everything I've completed. Lori Smith is such a talented designer!

Anne suggested I try The Other Boelyn Girl, also by Phillipa Gregory. That is the first book of hers that I read; a friend in Tangled Threads loaned that one to me. I love stories set in the time of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, so I immediately went out and bought more of her books. She's a very good writer.

Patti, I love love your basket block, and thanks for the tip on The Other Boleyn Girl; I just put in a request for it from the library. I love historical novels like that, too. You've probably read Green Darkness, by Anya Seton? I've read that one several times. Karen

Patti, this is going to be a wonderful quilt! Good for you getting busy on something for you, especially since it was getting put on the back burner.

I'm not all the crazy about doing applique but it sure is fun digging through the fabric for this little bit or that for the blocks. Okay, I'll admit it--I don't hate it all that bad after working on the Christmas quilt. Still rather piece though, VBG

Loving the quilt. I am really becoming attached to the many types of blocks/many sizes of blocks quilts... HMM I better get some UFO's PIGS done!

Love how the quilt is coming...cheddars and reds yummmm.

I too really enjoyed Phillipa Gregory's books. Have you watched the Henry VIII series on PBS (it was on in the 1970's but is still available on DVD/VHS.) I take it out about once and year and go through all 6 episodes!
