Do you like this?

Right now I have two sizes of broken dishes blocks. I think I'm liking the way they look when put together. I'm thinking about dividing border in either blue or red (like the one stuck to the design board in the picture), then a ring of the larger blocks - I have only enough for one ring - then another divider border - then back to the smaller blocks. As you can see in the bottom right corner, I have hundreds of triangle squares waiting to be pressed and made into smaller broken dishes blocks.

What do you think? Do you like the two sizes together? It definitely looks "maverick" to me.

Today I have to get a haircut, go grocery shopping and get the camping food, etc. together so I can't sew all day. Should be able to fit in quite a bit, however.

Gratitudes:

1. My Mariners are on a tear! They are only 2 games out of first place.
2. Good novels staring quilters - I'm enjoying "Circle of Quilters" very much.
3. Cool breezes through the house.
4. New longarm thread colors to play with.
5. Payday!

I really like it with the two sizes and the red divider border. It looks good. I am not sure about going back to the small size after that though.

I think its a great plan. I always love the feel of an inset border (where you return to the main blocks again outside it.) I often find I don't have to add any more borders and the loov is informal, yet finished...

I love it! I think it will look great going back to the smaller size!

I love it... I think going back to the smaller size outside after the dividing border again will be very interesting!

I really like it and think it will look just fine with the smaller blocks in the border again as long as you use the same thin plain border between again

I really like the concept of the 2 different sizes. However I think the 2 boarders should be the same color giving the affect that the larger blocks are actualy part of the defider boarder. I am not sure what I said is clear but the bottom line is --- it looks great.

Love the two sizes of blocks in the broken dishes quilt.
I am starting a similiar quilt in a similiar pattern called stars.
I think I will use your idea with the big and small blocks.

Yes I like it very much :-) The 2 sizes together is very appealing to the eye.

What a neat idea! The red really brings the quilt together and at the same time searates the 2 sizes. Without looking at your sample, I'd never thought it would work, but it really looks nice.

I like the plain separating border before the larger size. Whatever you decide to finally do, make sure we see the whole top, its really shaping up well.

The two sizes together look great, I think going back to the smaller size for the outside border will be fine if there is another plain border between them.

The two sizes of blocks lot smashing together. It is going to be a beautiful quilt!

And I loved reading Circle of Quilters. I wish Jennifer Chiaverini could write faster so I could have more of her books to read.

Do I like it? What's not to love about this great scrappy quilt with a bit of originality thrown in! The 2 sizes is a great idea! If I were to make something similiar I think I would use all the smaller blocks in the center and then frame the entire thing with the bigger blocks (even if I ndid have to go cut more scraps!). But, whatever you decide, scrap quilts are fun to play around with.

Cheers!
