Broken Dishes Progress

I sure like how this quilt is turning out. As Bonnie says, if the fabric still looks ugly you've just not cut it small enough. There are lots of ugly fabrics here but I think the quilt is going to be striking. Today I sewed on the inner border and the surrounding row of larger blocks. I put it back on the design wall and cut strips for the second border to see how it looks. I'm going to cut a set of navy strips also to see which one I like best. Then it'll be back to making the little broken dishes blocks. I don't know if I have enough small triangle squares or not. If not I think I might add another border then make the outside the larger size blocks. I won't know until I get that far and decide how it looks. It's a fun adventure - not knowing how the finished quilt will look and designing as I go. It's been awhile since I've done that, and I'd forgotten how much fun it is.

Patti, this is absolutely gorgeous! I'm going to have to give it a try...were there any rules about color placement when you put the blocks together? Lights/Darks, etc.? I LOVE THIS QUILT!!!

Oh my goodness... that is beautiful - can't wait to see it with the smaller ones outside. I have already decided I am going to "steal" this idea with some fall fabrics I got this past weekend...

I looked at the closeup and didn't see any ugly fabric in there. This is a beautiful quilt. And you should be doubly proud that you are designing it yourself.

Patti - it's looking so good - you could get away with the blue and the burgundy as there's enough of both in the scraps when you look at from a distance - mmm mmmmmmm!

My oh my Patti....LOL, I have computer problems for a couple of days and you've sewn up the whole state of Washington I think...*VBS*
All I can say is WOW!! It's a knock your socks off scrap quilt, for sure.
Your scraps are bright and happy enough, they look wonderful together. Very, very upbeat! I especially like the two sizes of blocks together. How great to be able to do just what you want, design as you go, and not worry about if the pattern isn't right. You rock girl!! So glad you got those days of vacation, Hugs, Finn

This quilt is absolutely gorgeous. I just came across a whole bin of 2.5" HST's and I think this is the project that they have been waiting for. I'm anxious to see your progress. I've always loved the broken dishes pattern, but I realy like the way you are putting it together.
