Seeking your opinion

I guess I need help with this Feathered Star quilt. I thought I knew just the changes I wanted to make, but when I made them all I still wasn't satisfied.

In the first picture I've changed all the triangles - darker around the center block and blue instead of red around the edges. I think I like the blue much better than the red - it brightens up the entire quilt. However - since the blue is so much lighter than the red I'm now thinking that maybe the dark center triangles are too dark.
So - I tried changing the center triangles to my first choice. I think I like this better - but I'm just not sure.

I'd like your opinion. Do you like the picture I posted yesterday the best? Or do you prefer the blue with the dark? Or the blue with the original brown plaid? I didn't take a picture of the darker with the red because I didn't like that at all - way too dark.

I'm not going to decide for sure until I make the other four applique blocks. In the meantime I'm leaving this up on my design wall to see if time will help me make a decision.

Please let me know which of these three choices you prefer, or whether you think I should head to the quilt shop for something else entirely. Thanks for your input!

I like the second one better because The backgrounds seem to flow together better and not one of them stands out as a prima donna.

I like the 2nd photo (with yesterday's pieces) Don't know why - I just do *s*

I love them all. Do you have a place you plan on putting it? Maybe consider where it will be residing. All that aside... my first choice would be the red, then the plaid.

I actually like the first one you showed yesterday. But if I had to chose between the two today, it would be the second one. You are doing a wonderful job...I love how it is turning out.

My favorite is the one from yesterday. Of the two blue choices, my favorite is the second. Will there be additional borders or just the setting triangles?

Personally, I prefer the one from yesterday. It keeps with the rustic country theme. Plus, I'm a sucker for shades of red and that red border with the checked interior was perfect in my eyes! Good luck on making your decision. It can be very tough sometimes. :o)

I like yesterday's the best, although I do like the second one from today. Blue is just not my favorite, but it does look good with the lighter red.

I like the one from yesterday best but I would be happy with any of them if you want to send it my way. I really do like this quilt.

personally, I think the light is too light; perhaps a tan might show off the other colors better. it seems to cause it to glare....just my opinion of course....too much of the very light I think....nice work though and love the pattern

I like the blue with the brown plaid. A red binding will balance the red. If there is some red in the remaining blocks, It'll be youe zinger.

I am not really a blue person but I think I like the second one here with the blue on the outside and the brown plaid from yesterday...
that works for me..

I definitely prefer the 2nd one!

I liked the red, too, but blue is my favorite color so the changes you made suit me just fine. I do prefer the 2nd photo you posted-- the blue setting triangles w/ the brown plaid setting triangels. This quilt is going to be stunning! Keep up the good work! (also, I'm glad to have you back and blogging again!)

I like the photo from yesterday the best. The blue makes it too washed out. The red makes it look rich. But if I had to choose from today's photos I'd choose the 2nd one. I guess I like the red check fabric.

Hi Patti--I just found your site--thinking I had found My old-first site!!! You see I just started blogging around mid Feb and I first went with "Quilting is my Passion", then discovered there was alot of references to this title so I changed mine after about 5 days or so to "Quiltingisblissful.blogspot.com and so when i seen this on A Simple Girls blog i thought it referred back to my first one??????
I do like your site and I will return to visit--keep up the good job and the lovely pictures-Di

Oh, wow! I LOVE the blue with the brown plaid - perfect!

Blue is my favorite color, but I do like your feathered star with the red. The red seems to make that star sparkle.

Put me down for yesterdays, with the red - makes the quilt look blended.

I like the first photo with the dark brown because it makes that red pop I think. But the other one is nice too with the plaid brown. Hard choice.

I like the second one also. I think that the idea of a red binding is an excellent one. It would tie it all together.

I love the red in the outside triangles. Kind of like a box of chocolate covered cherries. I absolutely love the contrast between the stripe fabric in the background of the center feathered star and the plaid fabric in the inner triangles! Very nicely done!

Enjoying your blog!

RED! I saw the first photo & said to myself, "What happened to the red?"

Richelle said...

Since red is my favorite color that would be my first choice - out of the blues, I like it best with the plaid. Have fun deciding!

I love the red one from Tuesday because it gives a drama to the inner block. Of the two posted yesterday, I like the second one best, as the plaid supports the inside block! Glad you're back posting...I enjoy your blog!

I love them both, but the second one is the one I would use - love the plaid, just pulls it all together!! Hugs, Mary

Hi Patti

Nice to see you back. I haven't read all the comments of what people prefer but I like the previous post setting with the red. Sometime the colours look very different in photos so it is hard to tell exact colours and intensity.

I am sure it will look wonderful no matter what you do!!

Well, I like the red one because it looks more rustic, but if you don't like it...that's what counts. I'm really not that fond of either blue one though the 2nd blue would be my choice. How about using tans or browns instead of the blue? Easy for me to say, I don't have to cut more fabric LOL.

Off to read what others had said.

I like the light brown checkerboard fabric over the dark fabric. I think it is a nice combination with the blue on the outside and the whole quilt flows better. I think the dark choice kinda chops it up. Beautiful so far!

I like the blue with the day - I love the blue. And the blocks are beautiful! Especially the circle with the little triangles around it - that is so pretty! p.s. and it's so nice to drop by and see what you're doing - I've been very absent lately and relieved to be back :-)

You might already have the top picked out but I just want to say I like the picture with the brown triangles.

I just found your blog--you have a lot going on! My vote is for the brown checked triangles--they don't overpower any of the other blocks. What a beautiful project!
