The last stitch is taken

Tonight I put the last stitches in the binding of the Postage Stamp quilt. Hooray! Another UFO bites the dust! I really like how it turned out, except for the fact that I don't particularly care for the 8 oz. batting. I think it's a great charity quilt just as is - nice and large and comfy. Someone else in the guild is doing labels on her embroidery machine so I didn't have to worry about a label. I'll take it to the work party tomorrow to show the others.

For those of you who've not read the story of why I have baskets of 2" squares to use up, there are three links at the bottom of this post that tell the story.

Tomorrow we have an all day work session, so I'm taking my strings to sew. I hope to finish piecing the string top tomorrow, plus start the blocks for a second string top. I have so many strings in that box to use up!

All that work and it's not one you're keeping?? It's beautiful - I may make a postage stamp quilt day or maybe I'll just buy an antique one like I did with the Grandmother's flower garden!

A true scrap quilt, like the dark blue borders, they set of the little squares perfectly. I think I would find it hard to let this one go.

This quilt is fantastic. I would have no problem snuggling under it.

Hooray on paying off the car loan and being so close on paying off the rest of your debt. We're on the other end of the spectrum. We need to get a mortgage so we can have a tax write off! With no children and no other deductions we need all the help we can get with our tax bill.

This is a great quilt! You are not alone. I too got sucked into the watercolor craze and wound up worth boxes of 2" squares. I did what you did and separated them in dark and light. There were so many that a friend and I each made a large "anti-watercolor" quilt from them! Her quilt was displayed at Houston one year - mine still needs to be quilted. LOL!

That is such a fabulous quilt Patti...and so easy to do with all your 2" squares. Even easy if you just wanted to cut new 2" squares too! Someone will really enjoy the quilt!
