"Oh Rats!" - I did it again

All of my quilt books are on a spreadsheet.  Currently all 778 of them.  I created the spreadsheet to prevent me from buying a book twice.  I've done that at least a half dozen times in my quilting career.  Once I did it three times!  The book was "Butternut and Blue" by Barbara Brackman and Karla Menaugh.  I kept thinking I wanted to buy it, but kept thinking I hadn't yet LOL!  Luckily, the shop I frequented the most had the book - I'd bought one of the copies from her - and she let me return the two duplicates for credit.

Once I made the spreadsheet I didn't buy duplicate books again.  Until now that is.  When filling out the spreadsheet it helps to use the correct name of the book.  (It also helps to take out one's phone and check the spreadsheet - but I'll never admit I didn't do that!)  The spreadsheet had this book listed as "Schnibbles" by Carrie Nelson.  It is obvious that isn't the name of the book.  That's my excuse for buying it twice - and I'm sticking to my story!

My mistake is a gain for one of my readers.  Leave me a comment on this post telling me whether or not you've done this before, and the name of the book if you remember.  I want to be sure I'm not the only silly quilter who does this!  Post before midnight Pacific Daylight Time on Sunday.  On Monday I'll use a random number generator to see who wins this book.

I bought it because I thought cutting up my older fabric for quick piecing projects was a good idea.  I still think it is.  But I need only one book to do that LOL!

I have done this before, I have also hunted down that back issue of a magazine on eBay to make a quilt and then found it in my library.

And don't even get me started on the buying 4 fat quarters of a fabric, four different times within six weeks.

I did it with an Amish Quilt book, but i just kept it...too lazy to bother with a return. A few months later i learned of a quilter out west who's home was lost in a fire. Lots of quilters sent her replacement sewing things, so my extra book got a new home.

I have done this so often that I can't list all the books...the last one was 'When the Cold Wind Blows, by Blackbird, the one before that was 'Simple Pleasures' by Jan Patek...need I go on?! haha Let's just say we love those books...and we are keeping the economy going! Thanks for the chance to win this one...which I DON'T have!!
Take care!

Oh yes, I've done it. Rodale Books is located in my town, and they used to have a big warehouse sale every year. I'd go and end up buying things I had. I need that list, too.

I don't do that so much with quilting patterns but I have 4 patterns of the same little girls skirt. I guess I really like it, I don't know. I also rebuy novels at the 2nd hand store only to find I already have that book when I get home. But I don't have schnibbles. Thanks.

No. I haven't bought a book twice. Quilt books are expensive in Aus. and cost $60 -$70

Definitely have and it was an eBay auction for Jinny Beyers The Quilters Album of blocks and borders. I hit the buy button and then realised I might have it already. I love your idea of a spreadsheet.

Yes last year I bought some books an patterns at the Paducah quilt show. When I got home one of the books was a duplicate. Lucky for me my friend bought it. Now I try to keep a list on my phone of all my books an patterns.

Oh yes, I have done this too. More than once unfortunately. One I did this with is The Ultimate Guide to Longarm Quilting.

This look like a great book, I'd love to put my name in the draw. I've bought the same book once because I didn't recognize the write up lol. Luckily it came in handy as a gift!

Never with quilting books. With Fabric yes :) As a teacher I have also bought multiple copies of the same children's books on accident, many times, but the kids usually like that because they can read the same thing together. so it ends up being win. Thanks for the chance to win.

Yes, I bought a book twice, Patchwork Pantry I think is the name. And I have bought fabric I already had but that has never been a problem for me!
