Distractions II

I see my last post was about distractions, and was written two months ago.  So it seems appropriate to address distractions in this post also.

Since the knitting retreat at the beginning of November I've done next to no quilting.  I've been knitting and spinning instead.  And reading.  And enjoying the holidays.  And spending very little time on the computer.

I thank those of you who sent an email to check up on me.  All is fine.  However, knitting and spinning do not generate any desire to write.  I don't know what the difference is, but they just don't inspire me in a verbal way.  So I have stopped writing.

Keeping a blog isn't what it used to be.  When I first started blogging there was so much give and take between the quilting bloggers.  I made so many friends all over the world who became very dear to me - and still are.  These days, however, there are so many people writing blogs, and with people busier than ever it seems that very little commenting goes on.  The comments and discussions were what kept me blogging, and I miss them so much.  These days it just isn't the same.

I thank you who have read my blog over the years.  I'm going to leave it in place as I know people still visit the tutorials regularly, but I'm not going to keep posting.  I wish all of you the best in both your quilty and your personal lives.

  1. This is sad. I've only recently tried to be more active at blogging. I understand how the lack of comments makes it feel like you're only writing for yourself and not "sharing" or "trading" insights. Perhaps I am late in this game. I hope you'll still post from time to time, even if only for old times sake. I've enjoyed your sharing

  2. So true Patti...it's not like it used to be...but then I guess there's not a lot that is. Take good care!

  4. I'm sorry to read this as I always look forward to your posts when you could write. I started following you several years ago when you were doing the Mile a Minute or maybe it's called Crumb Chaos blocks and you were making many many quilts! It was so fun to watch and I caught the "bug." I directed many others to that tutorial. I do not miss a post as I have you in my Inoreader list and it notifies me when you post. I will definitely miss your blog as I did when you took a rest from blogging recently. Please post when you can as it would be so nice to hear from you. Hugs from Texas.

  7. So glad you are finding contentment in your knitting and spinning. I am into scrapbooking right now and have no desire to quilt. I put all my projects away on hangers and closed the closet door! And am sewing on plastic and papers with my teflon footsie--loving it! I haven't decided if I will continue to post on my blog about this album documenting our lives in 2014 or not. I am still doing my CQJP2014 slowly tho'--no mojo for much....hugs to you, Julierose

  8. Patti, I'm glad you are well but sad because I've enjoyed keeping up with your blog. I know what you mean about the different frame of mind when you knit and spin as opposed to quilting. They energize different areas of the brain, I guess. I still hope I may see you around in real life a little.

  9. Patti,, so sad you won't be blogging. You are one of my favorite bloggers and check on your blog daily. I understand the time and commitment it must take to keep up with the writing. I have really enjoyed your thoughts and all the information you share. I hope you will post once in a while just to keep in touch. Best wishes and keep on keeping on!

  10. Patti, you are so right. I think there are so many social medias available now, that one has to choose where to go and what to read. Sorry that you won't be posting anymore.

  11. Hi Patti.
I just recently found you had started back up blogging and was following along. I am. to keeping up with my blog either. I have found the same as you. It seems everyone is blogging and no real relationships are forming. And it seems to me all the new blogs are trying to sponsor some sort of business or another. Always pushing products and very little personal content.
I have enjoyed reading you blog and I still think fondly of that day you took me around Portland and Vancouver for a bit of a shop hop. It was nice to meet you in person. Good luck in all your future endeavours.
Drop me an email anytime! Especially if you find yourself up in on "our" Vancouver.

  13. Hi there Patti hon
I'm so sad that you won't be blogging any longer, I always enjoy reading what you're up to. I understand your reasons completely though, it has changed a lot since we started out.
Hopefully I can keep up with you on the Facebooks, it would be such a shame to lose touch.
    *hugs*

  14. Sad. I had no idea that people blogged for the comments! I would have commented more but it always feels like "stalking" to me! It seems premature to leave us all without your quilty inspiration--give us another chance!
    We'll be better commenters!

  15. Friday evening......Well, I was trying to comment on your post today with all the photos of the knitting you have been doing, but it only shows up in my Inoreader feed and not on your blog---don't know what that is about but do notice that at times on other blogs as well. I have commented up above on this post a couple of weeks ago. Sooo Yippee Skippee that you will still post from time to time! That was a welcome post to read this evening. Do enjoy your posts so much. And Mercy Me you have been knitting up a storm. I have wanted to try some of the fingerless gloves and cowls so will definitely watch for your Ravelry information. Obviously you are more advanced knitter (I have done a pair of socks) but I can usually find help on Youtube if I have a question about something. I look forward to quilt AND knitting posts!
