A difficult choice

It seems I'm always forced to make a difficult choice with my limited amount of free time - do I sew or do I spend time on the computer? I'm sure the rest of you struggle daily with the same choice. However do you decide?

Lately I've been choosing sewing. I am so far behind on my blog reading - according to Bloglines I have over 1000 new posts waiting for me to read. And the email has piled up unopened in my Inbox. Because of my Crumb Chaos obsession I've spent little time on the computer these past 2-3 weeks. I've accomplished a lot in the sewing room, but I feel a terrible disconnect between myself and all my quilty friends in Blogland. I wonder daily what you are all up to and what you've been accomplishing. What's happening in your lives. I miss you all dreadfully. I often feel like the pull is tearing me in half - quilting or computer, computer or quilting?

Right now quilting is winning out, but please don't think I've forgotten you. You are all held in my heart. I miss you lots, and I will read all your posts one of these days. I have a week of vacation coming up in 9 days, and plan to spend it all at home - other than the day I spend at Ikea!

  1. Blogging is great, I love it, and I am grateful and appreciative of all the friends I have made. But it does take up a lot of time so I can perfectly understand why you would choose to sew - time is precious! P.S. I selfishly look forward to seeing exactly what you have been sewing :-)

  2. Don't worry too much. I am also behind. This time of year there are all kinds of distractions outside. Then there are the projects of my own that nag at me every time I look at them. I also have customer quilts that I am trying to keep up with. Like you, I am working outside the house too! There never is enough time in the day to keep up with everything!

  3. I've learned to "schedule" my blog and yahoo group time. When he is traveling I satisfy my need to quilt while my dinner is cooking. I love Healthy Choice meals and I choose to cook them in the oven. That gives me the 25 - 30 minutes it takes to cook a meal for sewing. After dinner I'm usually too tired to create so I blog and email then.

When DH is home I get less time in the evening for myself, but that's OK.

On weekend we don't have social engagements I get plenty of quilting and blogging time. Since I'm an early riser and DH is not.

  4. No need to fret . . . it's hard to find a good balance of doing the quilting that we love and keeping in touch at the same time. Read and post when you have the time to spare.

  5. I know exactly how you feel, as the new term starts here I am seriously considering a schedule for myself so that I don't "waste" my days reading, even though it's fun...the quilting suffers!
You are getting so much done!
    Great about Joseph, Tracey

  7. I know just how you feel Patti, I don't seem to be able to get a balance between the computer and quilting either. There are so many great blogs out there now, it's hard to get through them all.
    *hugs*

  8. I know just what you mean! And yet I am amazed at how much you get done! I have to force my self away from the computer and all my onlines quilting friends! But it is the only way to accomplish any thing! Your MAM blocks are great-another thing I have to try! I love that picture of Sophie and your son! Too Cute!

  10. It's why we have other interests - I think it balances us out. Everyone understands, It's suppose to be fun. Don't let blogging give you pressure. Sooner or later, you wind up with a rainy day and you'll catch up...
