Voluble Quilter - the name thy is Patti! Here I have been joining the pieces upon a storm of my remainders and have been obtaining much of the way to quilt of the charity. But everything what takes is a little deflection and before it knows it I it is vagando under a entirely diverse trajectory. I blamed it in a block of appliqué that I had to finish for ramilletes and the points, and the great sensation to move a project from the list of UFT to the information written in thin paper enumerates. 
It's no wonder people come here from foreign countries and can't understand us - even when they can speak some English. Language has always fascinated me - the way the same words can have so many different meanings in different contexts. Throw in our American slang and an English-is-my-second-language person is sure to be lost.Today I've been watching Season 3 of MI-5 and appliquéing the next to last appliqué block for Heirloom Stitches. Now that I've finished it all I have left are the December blocks, and then I'll be able to sew the center together. Here are all the blocks I've made laid out on the floor as they will be sewn together. I love the colors and fabrics Homestead Hearth choose for this BOM!
I know! That Babel translating is a laugh! I've directed Japanese friends who don't read English to it but really it comes out so strange that I have to tell them what I really wanted to say. I tell them to forget it, enjoy the blog pictures!

Excellent example of babel-ing! After a while, even we don't know what we are saying! It certainly provides a bit of light hearted amusement, doesn't it! Beautiful, beautiful handiwork, by the way!!!!
ReplyDeleteHubby and I tried e-mailing each other by translating to Spanish - but like you've demonstrated, the 'untranslating' made it impossible to decipher what was being said. Gave us some good chuckles, though.
ReplyDeleteI just love the quilt...it is so beautiful! The babeling is quite funny. I've had some funny things happen when I've used it to translate French...I guess there are still things a computer can't do :)

ReplyDeleteOh, I agree with the language stuff. I can't imagine trying to learn english as a second language. I tried to learn Japanese, and it's hard enough!
Whew! YOur sewing studio is a marvel of organization! Can I come and play there some time?

WOW, you work so fast, amazing! Very funny babeling. I am a teacher of French and I can tell you that it is very funny what my students come up with when they use a computer translator! Take care.

Beautiful quilt! Yes I don't have anything pulling me very strongly at the moment. I have the project I should and need to finish next but the impulse hasnt been strong.

ReplyDeleteHow funny to read that babeling paragraph. It reminds me of a game my friend and I used to play when we were little using a thesaurus to replace simple words with more unlikely words in a paragraph or part of a play or something. It was like babeling and so funny.
